Steel Plate ASTM A36
Interview
Steel plate is a basic steel material characterized by a low carbon content.
It is primarily categorized into two main types: ordinary low-carbon steel plate (including cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel plate) and specialty steel plate. Specialty steel plate includes low-alloy high-strength steel and corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant clad steel plates, and is widely used in automotive manufacturing, rail transportation, and other fields. Ordinary low-carbon steel plate can be categorized by thickness into thick, medium, and thin plates. Cold-rolled steel offers excellent surface quality and precise dimensions, making it suitable for vehicle body manufacturing. Hot-rolled steel plate is primarily used for components such as vehicle frames. Continuously cast steel slabs are commonly used abroad to achieve improved surface quality.
Based on the deoxidation method, this material is categorized into rimmed steel and aluminum-killed steel. The former is low-cost but sensitive to aging, while the latter offers superior processability. Annealing can adjust the grain size of cold-rolled steel plate, while hot-rolled steel exhibits significant anisotropy. In terms of mechanical properties, cold-rolled steel plate has a low yield point and high elongation, while hot-rolled steel plate has greater hardness and a significantly higher elastic modulus than aluminum. Different grades of steel plates such as SPCC, SPCD, and SPCE correspond to ordinary, rolled, and deep-drawn uses. During manufacturing, technologies such as coil annealing are used to improve formability.
