Product Introduction
Aluminum coil (also known as aluminum coil) is a metal coil made primarily from aluminum through processes such as casting, rolling, and calendering. As an industrial metal product, it is widely used in construction, electronics, packaging, machinery, and transportation. Production processes adhere to technical standards such as ISO9001 and GB/T 3880-2006.
Aluminum coil is categorized by alloying elements into series 1 to 9. Series 1 (such as 1050) offers high purity and low cost; series 3, containing manganese, is suitable for humid environments; series 5 aluminum-magnesium alloys are used in aviation fuel tanks; and series 7, containing zinc, offers exceptional hardness and is primarily used in aircraft structural components. Tool material selection during processing depends on the silicon content; diamond tools are recommended for high-silicon aluminum alloys. Product thicknesses range from 0.2mm to 10mm. Thin sheets of 0.8-1.2mm are commonly used in construction, while 0.6mm is used for pipe insulation. Surface treatments include anodizing and color coating to meet decorative and corrosion protection requirements.
Aluminum coil is widely used in electronics, packaging, construction, and machinery. my country boasts a large number of aluminum coil manufacturers, and its production technology has caught up with that of developed countries. Based on the metal elements contained in the coil, aluminum coil can be roughly divided into nine categories, or series. The following provides a brief introduction:
1000 Series
The 1000 series aluminum sheet, also known as pure aluminum sheet, has the highest aluminum content of all series. Its purity can reach over 99.00%. Because it contains no other technical elements, the production process is relatively simple, resulting in a relatively low price. It is currently the most commonly used series in conventional industry. The majority of aluminum coils in circulation are the 1050 and 1060 series. The minimum aluminum content of the 1000 series is determined by the last two digits. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50. According to international grade nomenclature, the aluminum content must be at least 99.5% to qualify. my country's aluminum alloy technical standard (gB/T3880-2006) also clearly stipulates that the aluminum content of 1050 must reach 99.5%. Similarly, the aluminum content of 1060 series aluminum plate must reach at least 99.6%.
2000 Series Aluminum Plate
Represented by 2A16 (LY16) and 2A06 (LY6), 2000 series aluminum plate is characterized by high hardness, with the highest copper content, approximately 3-5%. 2000 series aluminum plate is an aviation aluminum material and is not commonly used in conventional industry. Few manufacturers in my country produce 2000 series aluminum plate, and its quality cannot compare to that of foreign products. Imported aluminum plate is mainly provided by manufacturers in South Korea and Germany. With the development of my country's aerospace industry, the production technology of 2000 series aluminum plate will be further improved.
3000 Series Aluminum Plate
Represented by 3003 and 3A21. Also known as rust-proof aluminum plate, my country's 3000 series aluminum plate production technology is relatively advanced. 3000 Series aluminum sheet is primarily composed of manganese, with a manganese content ranging from 1.0% to 1.5%. This series offers excellent rust resistance. It is commonly used in humid environments such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and undercarriages. While priced higher than the 1000 Series, it is a relatively common alloy.
4000 Series Aluminum Sheet
Represented by 4A01, the 4000 Series aluminum sheet has a high silicon content, typically ranging from 4.5% to 6.0%. It is used in construction, mechanical parts, forging, and welding applications; it has a low melting point and excellent corrosion resistance. Product Description: It exhibits heat and wear resistance.
5000 Series
Represented by the 5052, 5005, 5083, and 5A05 series. The 5000 Series aluminum sheet is a commonly used alloy aluminum sheet. Its primary element is magnesium, with a magnesium content ranging from 3% to 5%. It is also known as an aluminum-magnesium alloy. Its main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength, and high elongation. Aluminum-magnesium alloys weigh less than other alloys for the same area, making them commonly used in aviation applications, such as aircraft fuel tanks. They are also widely used in conventional industries. Processed through continuous casting and rolling, they belong to the hot-rolled aluminum sheet series, allowing for further oxidation processing. In my country, the 5000 series aluminum sheet is one of the more mature aluminum sheet series.
The 6000 series represents 6061. Containing primarily magnesium and silicon, it combines the advantages of both the 4000 and 5000 series. 6061 is a cold-treated aluminum forging suitable for applications requiring high corrosion and oxidation resistance. It offers excellent workability, superior interface characteristics, easy coating, and excellent machinability. It can be used in low-pressure weapon and aircraft connectors.
General characteristics of 6061 include excellent interface characteristics, easy coating, high strength, good workability, and strong corrosion resistance. Typical uses for 6061 aluminum include aircraft parts, camera parts, couplers, marine accessories and hardware, electronic components and connectors, decorative hardware, hinge heads, magnetic heads, brake pistons, hydraulic pistons, electrical accessories, valves, and valve parts.
7000 Series
Representing 7075, it primarily contains zinc. Also part of the aviation series, it is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy. It is heat-treatable and a super-hard aluminum alloy with excellent wear resistance. 7075 aluminum sheet is stress-relieved and will not deform or warp after processing. All extra-large and extra-thick 7075 aluminum sheets are ultrasonically inspected to ensure they are free of pinholes and impurities. 7075 aluminum sheet has high thermal conductivity, shortening molding time and improving efficiency. Its primary characteristic is its high hardness. 7075 is a high-hardness, high-strength aluminum alloy commonly used in the manufacture of aircraft structures and futures. It is used in the manufacture of high-stress structural parts and molds, which require high strength and corrosion resistance. my country's production processes are largely dependent on imports, and there is room for improvement. (A foreign company once complained about uneven annealing of domestically produced 7075 aluminum sheet, resulting in inconsistent hardness between the surface and interior.)
8000 Series
The more commonly used is 8011, which belongs to the 'Other Series.' As far as I recall, this aluminum sheet was primarily used for bottle caps and heat sinks, mostly as aluminum foil. It's not commonly used.
9000 Series
It's a backup series. With advanced technology, to address the emergence of aluminum sheet containing other alloying elements, the International Aluminum Sheet and Strip Association has designated the 9000 series as a backup series, awaiting the emergence of a new variety to fill the gap in the 9000 series.
